girl who was on fire candle

Mockingjay stencil (image below)
Small candle holder
Tealight
Gold puff pens
Black Paint pens (I find uniPOSCA work best, but Sharpie is good too)
Acryllic finishing spray

Spray the holder with a light spray, just one coat works great. Hold the stencil to the holder and outline the mockingjay onto the holder. Wait half an hour for the outline to dry and then colour in the outline, using paint liberally. Wait to dry. On the other side of the candle, apply lightly with the puff pens "The Girl who was on Fire..." When it's all dry apply another two coats of the finishing spray and then place the tealight in the holder.

I wrote "If I were Katniss I would be dead by now", and I only used the bird and some colour blending.

capitol lamb stew with plums

1 tablespoon olive oil
2 lbs lamb stew meat or lamb shoulder on the bone
1 onion, sliced
1 1/2 cups dry red wine
1 cup stock
1 1/2 cups pitted prunes
1 tbsp red wine vinegar

Heat the olive oil on high in a dutch oven or non-stick saucepan with a lid; add the meat and brown all over.  Remove meat with a slotted spoon and set aside.  Add the onion to the pot, adding more olive oil if the pan is too dry.  Cook until onions are soft, then add the meat back along with the wine and stock.  Bring to a boil, cover, turn the heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes.  Add the prunes and simmer for another 30 minutes, or until the meat is tender and prunes are soft.  The stew can be stored at this point for up to two days in the fridge.  When ready to serve, stir in the vinegar, and heat through 15-20 minutes.

I think it's absolutely delicious!
